A Career in Cleaning, Now on Her Own Terms
Carys Jones has spent the past 16 years living in Manchester, and it is from here that she has now taken the exciting step of launching her own franchise business with Betterclean Services, covering the Bolton territory.
Carys brings with her a wealth of relevant experience. With over 15 years in hospitality and commercial cleaning, her career began in hotel housekeeping, where she worked her way up to Head Housekeeper. That role instilled in her a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to consistently high standards, qualities that would prove invaluable throughout the rest of her career. She went on to spend eight years as an Area Manager in outsourced contract cleaning, overseeing multiple teams across leading hotel brands throughout the UK.
Despite that impressive track record, Carys reached a point where she felt ready for something more. "After a successful career in hospitality and contract cleaning management, I felt that now was the right time for me to run my own business and be my own boss," she explains. "This decision was driven by my desire for greater independence, the opportunity to shape my own company culture, and the ambition to build something lasting in the cleaning industry."
Having spent around a year exploring franchise opportunities, Carys was drawn to the model for the balance it offers between freedom and support. "I wanted to become my own boss and enjoy the freedom of running my own business, but with the added benefit of ongoing support," she says. "The flexibility that comes with a franchise model was also a key factor, allowing me to balance independence with a proven framework for success."
When it came to choosing which franchise to join, Carys says the decision became clear during her first face-to-face meeting. "I realised during my initial meeting with Mike that this was the type of franchise I wanted to be involved with," she recalls. "It is clear that Betterclean Services have a great reputation within the industry, and everyone I have communicated with has been friendly and professional. That made me feel confident about joining a network that values integrity and excellence."
Outside of work, Carys enjoys long walks with her dogs, horse riding, and crafts, a mix that reflects the energy and creativity she is already channelling into building her new business.
Looking ahead, her ambitions for the Bolton territory are clear. "I am most looking forward to growing a business for the future," she says. "Building a strong, adaptable team and developing a lasting presence in the cleaning industry is my main ambition." In the longer term, she sees her future with Betterclean Services as an opportunity to grow her area, develop a dedicated team, and become the leading cleaning service provider in Bolton and the surrounding areas.
